Why vote Alnoor?

"Calgary is on the verge of becoming a world class city, but we can't get there with misplaced priorities. We can't get there by cultivating a culture of confrontation, and we can't get there if we don't listen to the most important component of our city, our people.
An election should be about exploring new ideas and discovering fresh solutions. But that doesn't happen if the race is one sided. It doesn't happen when all we have to choose from are the same people with the same ideas and the same old promises."

-    Alnoor Kassam

A Mayor Who Listens
At times it seems like there's too much talking and not enough listening at city hall. Alnoor spent the summer on a listening tour, meeting with unions, advocacy groups, student organizations, business leaders, and average Calgarians. Now, he has launched a hotline (538-0394) where you can call and let him know what you think needs to be done to make the city work better and make Calgary a world class city. As an entrepreneur, Alnoor knows that you must listen to your customer, and he is committed to delivering on what Calgarians want.

Different Solutions
The answer to Calgary's traffic problems should never be simply “roads, roads, roads”. We need to invest in transit, in order to get cars off the roads. We've all seen the city sprawl out of control, leading to longer commutes and more traffic – we can't simply turn a blind eye to urban sprawl. It is time to grow smart and grow up. Alnoor will find practical “made in Calgary” solutions to the age old questions that never seem to get answered by City Hall.

End the Culture of Confrontation
We see it every day. Confrontation with the province. Confrontation with unions. Confrontation with members of council. While Alnoor is decisive and will always stand up for Calgary, he recognizes that a good leader must be able to co-operate with those around him.

Change versus More of the Same
For the first time ever, close to all 15 members of City Council are running for re-election this year! Returning 14 incumbents without new leadership is a recipee for more of the same! Isn't it time for some different ideas at City Hall? Alnoor will inject fresh ideas into a City Council that has become reliant on old solutions and the “politics as usual” answer to every problem. The solutions that worked when Calgary was 500,000 people don't work in a city of a million people – it's time for a change.

GO!
For too long, the City of Calgary has been in a stop & go mind frame. Rather than making excuses and blaming others for what can't be accomplished, Alnoor is committed to go forward and make Calgary the world class city it can be.
