With international business achievements that encompass venture capital investing, banking, software, manufacturing, tourism, real estate and franchise partnering, Alnoor Kassam has proven he has what it takes to transform abstract ideas to successful strategies. 

Proud Father and Enthusiastic Adventurer

A proud father of three children, ages 20, 18 and 15 years, Alnoor divides his leisure time between spending quality time with his children and his new found Canadian hobbies. An avid downhill skier, Alnoor is currently learning how to snowboard. In the summer months, he focuses on running, rollerblading and yoga. 

International Citizen

With a Finance diploma from Liverpool University, Alnoor earned his Chartered Accountant designation in England.  Upon returning to his native country of Kenya, Alnoor founded the first match book plant in Africa before applying his financial expertise to the banking industry.
Alnoor’s business ties span the globe, and he has visited more than 80 countries.

Calgarian by Choice

Alnoor describes Calgary as “the most entrepreneurial city” he’s encountered.  “The people, the energy, the spirit of the city make Calgary what it is.” Alnoor is a Calgarian by choice.  Although he has done well in business here, he also understands the fundamental value of giving back.  As a result, he has now set his sights on the political arena by running for Mayor.

Business leader, entrepreneur, and international citizen turned mayoral candidate, Alnoor is determined to show Calgarians the true potential of their city.  “A city is no different than a business: it has an annual operating budget of $2 billion, 12 thousand employees and 1 million customers.” His vision is as unique as his approach: let Calgarians determine priorities by sharing their concerns, streamline processes, eliminate waste, and focus on the issues that are important to “customers” – the people of Calgary.
