Discuss Ideas

OK, let's get down to brass tacks. You've heard I want to work to reduce crime. Who doesn't? You've heard I want to make improved transit a priority. Sounds pretty vague to me. So what's my plan? How do I hope to achieve all this? I've got some ideas I'll be bringing forward soon that I think you'll really like. But perhaps more importantly, I hope you'll tell me what you think. If you like where we're going with all this, say so. If you don't, tell me what you'd do differently. Let me have it. I can take it!

  • My Issues With Barlow Trail

    My Issues With Barlow Trail

    Barlow Trail is a problem.

  • Calgary City Parks

    Calgary City Parks

I'm a sports person and I play a lot of sports so when I go to the city parks in the Northeast, they're very run down with weeds growing everywhere and we end up getting a lot of mosquito bites. In the Northwest or Southwest the parks are all clean, the roads are all clean and there's snow removal. We're calling tow trucks out and they're driving out perfectly fine.

  • Cyclists & Commuting

    Cyclists & Commuting

I cycle to work every day and it takes me less time by taking the streets then by taking the bike paths. Several years ago we tried to have a petition for a bike highway for north to south. That would be nice to have so we can commute like the cars, so we don't have to go all around them.

  • Ticket Quotas

    Ticket Quotas

The city police quota has to assure a certain amount of tickets each month. It seems like at the end of the month everyone around me is getting tickets. It may be the dumbest thing they've come up with but officers are giving out tickets at that time.

  • Downtown Parking Is Horrible

    Downtown Parking Is Horrible

Downtown parking is horrible. There is not enough, its expensive, its hard to find, even if you find it you can find where to pay for it. So it just becomes a huge mess. A downtown trip should be ten minutes and it ends up being an hour because of parking so that's an issue we need to work on.

  • Do Something About Traffic & Urban Sprawl

Do Something About Traffic & Urban Sprawl

I live in Ramsay so I don't have a commute so I can get into downtown in a couple different ways and for me that works. I couldn't imagine living in some of the communities in southern Calgary and northern Calgary. The commutes that some people do are ridiculous! They don't make any sense and any time I am forced to go on the road I get so frustrated and think to myself why do we do this way? Why have we designed our city this way? Is nobody thinking about these issues? Is nobody worried about urban sprawl?

  • More Housing For Low Income Families

More Housing For Low Income Families

Housing ... I think there needs to be more emphasis on that for sure. To get more housing for low income families because the city is getting so big and housing prices are so high for rent.

  • Focus On Accountability And Size Of Goverment

Focus On Accountability And Size Of Goverment

As far as City Council and things I think they should really focus on one is. Since I'm a business owner in downtown calgary i think they need to expand the budget for police security in downtown calgary. I feel like that is important. And if there is a personal issue I think should really be addressed it is beyond ridiculous in politics these days -- campaign financing reform. I find it completely irresponsible that any candidate can take money from any corporation, lobbyist etc. They should limit donations to about twenty dollars. As soon as any candidate starts accepting money from a corporation I just feel their unbiast perspective is completely eliminated. And lastly if I may, a third thing is the size of government. It's ridiculous. I can't understand why the government can't be even a little bit smaller than it currently is.

  • You actually think you have a chance?

You actually think you have a chance?

We don't vote in terrorists in this city. Piss off dirka dirka. You already blew a million bucks last time and still were a distant second.

  • Keep Up With Traffic Problems

    Keep Up With Traffic Problems

We need more effort and focus on solving Calgary's traffic problems. Things seem to be getting worse, faster than we can find solutions.
